First Monday every September, I give myself permission to take the day off, even though I’m not a laborer and I can take off any time I want because I have an AMAZING boss. 😉
We all get the holiday, but Labor Day was originally “a national tribute to the contributions laborers have made to the strength, prosperity and well being of our country.”
The workers. The ones who do the heavy lifting for our higher good. The ones who can’t take a day off anytime they want because all-hands-on-deck all the time. I think we should maybe appreciate them a little more every day, but I’m glad they at least get a day to be honored out loud.
One of the ways I can do that is by being intentional about how I show up in the world. I’m not a laborer, but I do have work to do here.
Where can I do the heavy lifting, contribute to the higher good? How does my work in the world make a difference?
This is a day of rest for sure, but it’s also a reminder that we ALL have our part and our responsibility to the higher good. It starts with knowing who weARE (which almost always means letting go of who we’re NOT) and showing up with purpose. I’m here for it.
